MILAREPA'S CAVE

**With Hikaru in the holy cave where Milarepa (Tibet's greatest yogi & saint) used to meditate! We both thought the energy here wasn't as evident as compared to Yanglesho (Guru Rinpoche's cave) we visited at Pharping last week. The energy was so intense at Guru Rinpoche's cave ..its almost like instant Reiki!..So many power places in Kathmandu..we are really blessed ..being able to be in this place that possesses the blessings of Buddha's speech and mind..

The Milarepa cave is just a couple of minutes walk from the Sankhu Gompa up in the hills... We walked 30mins to the cave today and passed a self emanating Vajrayogini enshrined in a holy temple. The local people said she gives powerful blessings to those who makes wishes here...Well, we lit a butter lamp for 100 RS..and had our foreheads dotted with red dye.. We were not allowed to take photos of the sacred Ugra-Tara (Ekazati)...it's forbidden.. It started pouring just after we had sat down to rid of garbage from our mental continnuim in this sacred cave...getting back down the muddy slopes would be tricky we thought..

++ View from inside cave with our friend/guide Sumang taking a breather outside..

Shawdowless Eagle
Sacred Voices on a spiritual quest
From the snowy mountains to the sandalwood forest
Reflection of karma on earth's red clay looms
Visions of Deities sparkling in the emerging sunlight..
Blessings from the master's comforting gaze pours forth
Mimicking petals of a lotus
May the winds of impermanence lead me and numberless beings to the sea of enlightenment..

"According to a blessing Milarepa uttered towards the end of his life, anyone who but hears the name Milarepa even once attracts an instant blessing and will not take rebirth in a lower state of existence during seven consecutive lifetimes. This was prophesied by Saints and Buddhas of the past even before his lifetime."

Dalai Lama’s 72nd birthday in Nepal

Tibetans were all out in full force to celebrate His Holiness's 72nd birthday in Kathmandu with a grand display of traditional songs and dances..a sight to behold ..watched by what must have been more than 2000 people sweltering in the hot afternoon sun..
The celebrations started with a long life prayer for His Holiness followed by the Tibetan National Anthem. Countless khatas were also offered @ the throne in front of HH's portrait..

**what a cutie!

It was truly an auspicious day to begin with as we saw double rainbows and double "suns" early in the morning at 6am ..there were 2 sets of sun rays ..one from the east and the other from the west..what a sight to behold..

**Happy Hikaru soaking in the grand atmosphere ...
PEACE!

Prayer for the Long Life of His Holiness:
In the land encirled by snow mountains
You are the source of all happiness & good
All powerful Chenrezig, Tenzin Gyatso,
Please remain till samsara ends...
